Zimbabwe is experiencing a shortage of fertilizers

Corn farmers in Zimbabwe are facing a serious crisis as the country is experiencing an acute shortage of ammonium nitrate fertilizers, and heavy rains are increasing the risk of nutrient loss in crops.
Ammonium nitrate (AN) is the preferred fertilizer for top dressing, as it is more resistant to leaching and volatilization, especially in seasons marked by heavy rainfall.
Professor Obert Jiri, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water Resources and Rural Development, said that a bill on duty-free import of fertilizers is being prepared to remedy the situation.
