Zambia and Zimbabwe to build new bridge

Zambia and Zimbabwe have agreed to build a bridge across the Zambezi River. After the completion of the construction of the new infrastructure facility, the movement of trains and heavy trucks across the historic Victoria Falls Bridge will be discontinued.
The bridge near the famous Victoria Falls, built in 1905, provides road and rail links between Zimbabwe and Zambia and is a key link in regional trade and tourism.
The planned construction is expected to reduce the burden on the aging structure, while increasing the efficiency of cross-border transportation and trade. The bridge project, timing and cost of construction are currently under discussion.
