Water security is a strategic issue for Africa
At the 39th ordinary session of the African Union Summit, held in Addis Ababa, it was decided to put the issue of water supply and sanitation at the center of priorities for 2026.
The issue of water resources is also among the priorities of the African Union's fifty-year roadmap, called Agenda 2063.
Despite the presence of large rivers, currently more than 400 million people in Africa do not have enough water to meet their daily needs, and more than 800 million people do not have basic hygiene services.
