Uganda Airlines prepares for takeoff
By decree of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, the state-owned company Uganda Airlines was headed by Girma Wake, former CEO of Ethiopian Airlines.
Girma Wake started his career at Ethiopian Airlines in 1965 and became its CEO in 2004.
Under his leadership, the Ethiopian airline entered the international level, modernized its fleet, strengthened its operations and became the most profitable carrier in Africa.
Later, Girma Wake served as Chairman of the Board of RwandAir (2012-2017), and in 2018 returned to Ethiopian Airlines as a member of the board and held this post until June 2023.
