UN House to be opened in Senegal

Senegal and the United Nations (UN) have signed an agreement governing the activities of the UN House in Dakar. The project aims to bring together several UN agencies in a single complex to improve coordination, operational effectiveness and cooperation with the Senegalese authorities.
The project, initiated by the Senegalese government, unites 34 UN agencies scattered across Dakar in a new symbolic building. Its shape resembles a watermill or a sun with seven rays.
The formal spaces are concentrated at the heart of the building: amphitheatre and reception areas will host international conferences, seminars and debates. The beam buildings will house public spaces such as IT support services, consulting centers, meeting places, catering areas, etc.
