Tunisia to build 309 solar installations
The Tunisian Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy has signed contracts with developers for the construction of 309 solar photovoltaic installations with a total capacity of 455 MW as part of the sixth round of renewable energy permits in the country.
The selected projects, which will be located primarily in the southern and central regions of Tunisia, include 187 projects of 1 MW each, 119 projects of 2 MW each and three projects of 10 MW each. The declared capacity is more than twice the 200 MW that was originally requested as part of the round.
Tunisia's permissive regime allows private developers to carry out renewable energy projects and sell electricity to public utilities. Under this program, solar projects with a capacity of up to 10 MW can be developed.
