Tunisia develops precision agriculture based on AI

Tunisian agrotechnology startup RoboCare has attracted a six-figure investment to develop its precision agriculture platform based on artificial intelligence (AI) in Africa and the Middle East.

Founded in 2020, RoboCare helps farmers identify crop diseases and stress conditions at an early stage using satellite imagery, meteorological data, drone information and IoT sensors.

The platform uses AI models to generate agronomic alerts and make effective decisions on farms. The models are trained on local data to account for regional soil and climate conditions. RoboCare has already monitored several thousand hectares and sent thousands of alerts to farm owners.

The new technology helps farmers save up to 35% of water, reduce the use of agricultural resources by 25% and increase yields by 20%. RoboCare specializes in crops important to North Africa and the Middle East, including olive trees, grains, and vegetables.
