Tunisia cares about water quality

Tunisia is launching the first phase of the country's Water Security and Resilience Programme, which aims to address water supply problems in both rural and urban areas.
The implementation of the program will create more than 4,000 permanent and 13,000 temporary jobs, as well as help Tunisia adapt to growing water scarcity and climate pressures.
As part of the 1st stage of the program, 2 projects will be implemented with a total cost of 332.5 million dollars. Financing is provided by the World Bank.
The Irrigation Water Security, Resilience and Value-Addition Project (US$124 million) is aimed at improving the efficiency of irrigation systems and increasing crop yields.
The Potable Water Security and Resilience Project (USD 208.5 million) is aimed at improving the quality of drinking water and increasing the efficiency of the SONEDE national water utility.
