The mining sector accounts for 14% of Namibia's GDP
The Namibia Chamber of Mines announced that mining companies paid 7.8 billion Namibian dollars, or about 434 million US dollars, in taxes in 2025, an increase of 39% compared to the same period last year.
This sector accounts for 14% of national GDP, mainly due to gold and uranium, while diamond-related revenues fell by 69% due to competition from laboratory-grown stones.
Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa, speaking at the opening of the Mining Expo 2026 exhibition and conference, confirmed these figures, adding that the mining industry had created more than 18,000 jobs in the country and attracted investments of 2.865 billion US dollars.
