The first oil production in Uganda is scheduled for 2026

According to Andrew Ssennabulya, Senior Facilities Engineer at the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU), the country's first oil may be produced before the end of 2026, as well drilling is ahead of schedule. 228 oil wells have already been drilled at the planned level of 170, which is necessary to obtain the first oil.

Oil production in Uganda will be carried out from two fields – Tilenga (190,000 barrels of oil per day) and Kingfisher (40,000 barrels per day), which together will amount to 230,000 barrels per day. The plants located here will separate gas and water from the crude oil, generate power for on-site operations and produce Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

Uganda’s waxy crude oil heated to 50°C will be transported via an East African oil pipeline with a total length of 1,443 kilometers and a cost of $ 5 billion. The construction of the world's longest heated oil pipeline has been completed by 91%.
