Africa is the 2nd continent on Earth in area with a great amount of natural resources.  There are more than 50 countries with fast growing economies and 1.5 bln population here. Africa today offers big opportunities for business and investment.

The Forest Investment Program turned 10 years old

 

 

The African Development Bank summed up the 10-year implementation of the Forest Investment Program for West Africa (FIP), a program of efforts to restore degraded landscapes, increase resilience to climate change and improve living conditions in Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana.

 

The program includes 13 projects with a total value of about $400 million: $163 million allocated by the African Development Bank and more than $231 million in co-financing.

 

Summary of the Program: in Burkina Faso, 3,027 hectares of forests have been restored, more than 380000 people have benefited from improved living conditions; in Ghana, 42652 hectares have been allocated for sustainable forest management, 13516 people have been trained, more than 2,700 "green" jobs have been created; in Côte d'Ivoire, more than 1,000 hectares of forests have been restored, rural incomes increased by 25%, more than 44,000 direct beneficiaries.
