The Alliance of Sahel States plans to hold a football tournament

Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, united within the Alliance of Sahel States, have submitted a joint bid to host the 2032 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), which was confirmed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The approval of the application took place after a meeting in New York between CAF President Patrice Motsepe and the presidents of the three federations. Burkina Faso previously hosted AFCON in 1998, and Mali in 2002. Niger has never hosted a football tournament of this level.
