Tanzania's economy will grow 5.4% in 2026

According to the African Development Bank, Tanzania has maintained a steady growth trajectory, with real GDP increasing by 6.0% in 2025 compared with 5.5% in 2024, driven by the development of agriculture, mining, construction and financial services, sustainable investment and consumption.

The forecast remains optimistic, but it is subject to numerous risks: economic growth will slow to 5.4% in 2026 amid the conflict in the Middle East and tensions in global trade, and then recover to 6.1% in 2027.

Although the country has made progress in strengthening institutional quality and capacity, gaps remain in domestic resource mobilization and natural resource management, especially in areas such as contract transparency, compliance with environmental standards and the effectiveness of public financial management systems.
