Tanzania to connect all settlements to electricity

The Government of Tanzania intends to connect all settlements of the country to electricity by 2030. This was announced by Hassan Saidi, Director General of the Rural Energy Agency.
Currently, about 40,000 settlements in Tanzania (more than 60% of all settlements in the country) are provided with electricity, more than 11,000 settlements are at various stages of implementation of electrification projects.
Despite the progress made, there remains a significant gap in access to electricity between urban and rural residents. In rural areas, only 37.1% of residents are connected to electricity, while the national average is 52%.
