Senegal is preparing to host the Olympic Games
Senegal is completing preparations for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in the capital from October 31 to November 13, 2026. For the first time in history, the Youth Olympic Games will be held on the African continent.
The sports program and competition schedule have already been prepared, and repairs to most of the facilities have been completed. It is planned to finish the renovation work in the Olympic Village, which will be used as the campus of Amadou Mahtar Mbou University.
During the preparatory activities, 45 agreements were concluded with government agencies and 74 contracts with hotels, which cover such areas as accommodation, food, transport, healthcare, information support etc.
The sports program in Dakar includes 25 competitive sports in which medals will be awarded, as well as 10 so-called “engagement sports,” presented as demonstration disciplines.
