Production in South Sudan to grow by 20%

According to the African Development Bank, South Sudan's economy remains highly unstable and heavily dependent on oil, which accounts for more than 80% of GDP, about 95% of exports, and 70 to 80% of government budget revenues.

The effects of the conflict in Sudan have severely disrupted oil production and exports, resulting in a sharp decline in GDP of 27.6% in fiscal year 2023/24. In fiscal year 2024/25, real GDP grew slightly, by 4.0% in 2024/25, but growth prospects remain unstable.

According to forecasts, in the 2025/26 fiscal year, industrial production in the country will grow by about 20.0%, which largely reflects the recovery of oil production and exports to pre-crisis levels.

This forecast remains highly susceptible to negative risks, as there is a possibility of increased regional instability due to climate shocks such as floods and droughts, as well as rising global trade and geopolitical tensions.
