Oil provides economic growth for Congo

The Republic of the Congo's GDP growth was 3.1% in 2025, compared with 2.6% in 2024 and 2.0% in 2023. Despite the decline in oil prices in 2025, the oil sector remains the engine of growth due to a 5% increase in production.
Government debt tends to decrease, but remains very high, amounting to 97% of GDP in 2025. Inflation dropped to 2.7% in 2025, compared with 3.1% in 2024. The country achieves this by lowering prices in non-food sectors.
The outlook is favorable: the projected growth will accelerate to about 3.3% in the period 2026-2027 due to improved performance in the hydrocarbon sector caused by the sharp rise in oil prices observed earlier this year in connection with the conflict in the Middle East.
