Nigeria will process raw materials domestically

A joint meeting of investors and Nigerian authorities was held in Abuja with the theme "From Resource to Revenue: Aligning Solid Minerals Operations with the 2025 Tax Reform Act."
Speaking at the event, Nigerian Solid Minerals Minister Henry Dele Alake said that the federal government was no longer interested in exporting raw minerals without local processing and industrial value addition.
Alake cited two major lithium projects as a positive example – a $600 million lithium processing plant in Nasarawa State, awaiting commissioning, and a $200 million lithium plant near Abuja.
According to the minister, over the past two years, Nigeria's value-added policy at the local level has already attracted more than $2.6 billion in mining-related investments.
