Niger and Algeria are connected by a new communication line

On Tuesday, October 6, Niger and Algeria opened a fiber-optic communication line with an initial capacity of 100 gigabits per second. This border crossing connects the town of In Gezzam on the Algerian side with the Arlit-Agadez axis in Niger.
The connection was established by specialists from Algeria Telecom and Niger Telecoms in the presence of Algerian Communications Ministers Sid-Ali Zerrouki and Niger Hamani Kargne. It is expected that this line will facilitate data exchange between the networks of the two countries.
This section is part of the Trans-Saharan backbone network, a regional program involving Algeria, Mali, Niger, Mauritania, Nigeria and Chad. The Niger component of the program also includes the expansion of the national data center and the strengthening of fiber-optic connections with Burkina Faso and Benin.
