New power plant to be built in Botswana

On April 16, an agreement on the construction of a new 500 MW solar power plant was signed in Maun, Botswana. This is a joint project between Botswana and the Sultanate of Oman.
The new power plant will meet the city's growing electricity needs, reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere, create jobs for local residents and support the local economy.
The Maun project is being implemented by O-Green, a subsidiary of Oman Investment Authority, in collaboration with Botswana Energy Corporation. This is the first project within the framework of a broader energy cooperation program aimed at increasing the capacity of renewable energy sources to 3,000 MW.
