Mozambique will fight cybercrime
The Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique has approved two key pieces of legislation aimed at strengthening the country's digital governance system: the Law on Cybersecurity and the Law on Combating Cybercrime.
The Cybersecurity Act places special emphasis on protecting government agencies, citizens, and critical information infrastructure. It creates a legal framework for preventing cyber risks and coordinating responses to cyber incidents.
The Cybercrime Act introduces legal provisions to combat Internet-related crimes. It defines criminal procedures, including mechanisms for international cooperation, and sets guidelines for investigating cybercrimes and collecting electronic evidence.
The best international practices in the field of cybersecurity and cybercrime were used as the basis for the development of new laws. The legislative changes are an important step forward in implementing Mozambique's digital transformation program and strengthening the trust of citizens, businesses and institutions in the use of information and communication technologies.
