Mozambique to build solar power plant
JCM Power has announced the award of a contract for the construction of a 30 MW solar power plant in Manja, Tete Province, Mozambique. This is JCM Power's first project in the country. The company previously built the Salima and Golomoti power plants in neighboring Malawi.
This project is being implemented as part of the PROLER renewable energy program, launched by Mozambique in 2022 to attract private investors to the energy sector.
According to Mozambique's National Energy Pact, the electrification rate has increased from 31% in 2018 to 60.1% in 2024. The government aims to provide 100% of the population with access to electricity by 2030.
