Mozambique restarts $20 billion gas project

Mozambique resumed the gas project of French energy giant Total Energies after a five-year suspension caused by a terrorist attack.
The $20 billion project involves the development of an offshore gas field in the Rovuma River basin, with estimated reserves of 5,000 billion cubic meters, and the construction of a liquefied natural gas plant.
The Rovuma LNG plant, with a design capacity of 13 million tons of liquefied natural gas per year, is expected to transform Mozambique into a major fuel exporter. Production is scheduled to begin in 2029.
