Morocco took the 1st place in the export of avocados

According to the FAO 2025 Tropical Fruit Market Survey, total exports of African avocados increased by 16.7% in 2025 to about 430,000 tons, driven by strong demand in Europe, the Middle East and parts of Asia.
The largest share of this growth came from Morocco, where exports increased by about 90% to about 141,000 tons in 2025, putting the country at the top of the continent for the first time.
Kenya, which was previously the largest exporter in Africa, moved to second place, supplying 105,164 tons of avocados to foreign markets in 2025, which is 19% less than a year earlier.
Avocado production in Morocco has grown steadily over the past five years, helped by investments in irrigation and new orchards in regions such as Sousse Massa and Gharb. Export packaging centers have also been developing, bringing sorting standards in line with the specifications of European supermarkets.
While Peru and Mexico continue to dominate global supplies, Africa's overall weight is increasing.
