Malawi invites investors

Malawi's Minister of Energy and Mining Jean Mathanga, visited the Salima solar power plant with a capacity of 60 megawatts, built by the Canadian company JCM Power. The Minister praised the company's contribution to the country's electricity supply and invited foreign companies to invest more actively in Malawi's energy sector, promising comprehensive support.
The Salima Solar project became Malawi's first independent solar energy producer and remains the largest in the country. The solar power plant, which occupies a 168-hectare site, was commissioned in October 2021. JCM is currently operating and maintaining the project, which is located in the Central Region of Malawi, approximately 20 km from the city of Salima.
