MAMA museum to be opened in Gabon
Gabon is preparing to open a new museum dedicated to modern and ancient African art in 2026. This cultural space, called MAMA, will be created by the Comilog Foundation for Art and Culture in Libreville.
The future museum will feature ancient and modern works of art from Gabon and sub-Saharan Africa, including masks, figurines, ritual objects and cultural heritage items illustrating cultural exchanges between different African societies.
The MAMA project is part of a strategy to preserve Gabon's heritage and support the country's cultural industries. The museum should become a modern regional cultural venue, which will host not only exhibitions, but also dance shows and theatrical productions.
