Liberia to revive coconut palm

Liberian Minister of Agriculture Alexander Nuetah has unveiled a plan to establish coconut seed plantations in four southeastern counties of the country - Rivers Cess, Sino, Grand Cru and Maryland.
According to this plan, regional agronomic centers with an area of 10 acres each will be established in each of the 4 districts, where coconut palm seeds and seedlings will be grown. In the future, the seedlings will be distributed to farmers throughout southeastern Liberia.
The project will use planting materials from Rivers Kess County, where the ministry has already established a nursery for dwarf coconuts. Seedlings from the River's Kess plant will be transported to the other three counties, where seed gardens will be created.
