Lagos has signed a contract for the supply of 400 MW of electricity

The Lagos State Government has signed electricity purchase agreements with three generating companies. Nigeria's largest city and port will receive 400 megawatts within three years.
Currently, the combined generating capacity of the three companies is about 60 MW, but it will be increased to 400 MW due to market investments.
The state Government has consistently implemented measures aimed at reducing Lagos' dependence on the national electricity grid. The latest agreements were signed amid problems in Nigeria's energy sector, including restrictions on electricity transmission, regulatory uncertainty, and repeated disruptions to the national grid.
In August 2023, the Lagos State government announced plans to attract up to $10 billion in private investment to improve energy supply to nearly five million households.
