Kenya and Uganda have opened a new railway section

President of Kenya, William Ruto, and President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, have jointly inaugurated the new Naivasha-Malaba railway section at the Kenya-Uganda border, marking the start of the construction of the second section, which is worth USD 943 million.
The extension of the Naivasha-Kisumu-Malaba railway is part of a larger project being implemented by countries in East and Central Africa. The implementation of this project will expand the network of high-speed railways in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Burundi.
