Is Nigeria the new capital of the global fuel market?

In the new S&P Global ranking, the Nigerian company Dangote became the world's largest exporter of aviation fuel by the end of April 2026, surpassing the traditional leaders from the Middle East and Asia.
This was made possible by the record-breaking capacity of the company's main plant, which produces 650,000 barrels of petroleum products per day. And it was aviation kerosene that became one of Dangote's most sought-after products amid the Middle East crisis.
The prospects for strengthening Nigerians in the global fuel market are still unclear. The main obstacle to new business records is the policy of its own government, which tightly regulates production in the entire oil industry.
