Guinea will implement 122 mega-projects over 15 years

Guinea plans to implement 122 mega-projects and 36 reforms as part of the Simandou 2040 strategy, a national roadmap aimed at accelerating structural economic transformations over 15 years. The program is estimated to cost $200 billion.
The program, named after the 110-kilometer mountain range in the southern part of which a large iron ore deposit is being developed, aims to use revenues from mining to develop infrastructure, agriculture, industry, and human capital.
In particular, it is planned to reduce imports of food and medicines by increasing local production, improve the quality of education, build new infrastructure facilities, and support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. As of July 7, 2026, 30% of the projects are already being implemented.
