Ghana's economic growth reached 6.4%

According to the Ghana Statistical Service, Ghana's real GDP growth rate reached 6.4% in the first quarter of 2026, up 0.2% from the same period last year.
The service sector remains the main engine of the economy, growing by 7.1% and contributing 48.3% to overall GDP growth. In the services sector, the share of information and communications increased by 25.2%, making it the fastest growing subsector of the economy.
The industry grew by 6.9%, which is much more than in the first quarter of 2025 (4.1%). The growth was due to mining, which increased by 10.7%.
Agriculture grew by 4.0% compared to 6.6% in the first quarter of 2025. Agricultural crops, including cocoa, increased by 4.7%, while cocoa bean production increased by only 3.8%.
