Ghana is Africa's leading gold producer
According to data released by the Ghana Chamber of Mines, the country recorded a historic gold production volume of 6 million ounces in 2025.
The volume of artisanal and small-scale gold production amounted to about 3.1 million ounces, exceeding the volume of production at large industrial mines (2.9 million ounces).
Annual production increased by about 21-25% compared to 2024, strengthening Ghana's position as Africa's leading gold producer.
Gold remains one of the main sources of foreign currency inflow into the country.
