Ghana earned 260 million dollars from the sale of forest

Hugh Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Forestry Commission, reported that Ghana earned approximately $260 million in 2025 from timber and lumber exports and domestic sales.
According to him, a total of 952,000 cubic meters of timber and lumber were supplied to local and international markets last year, an increase of more than 20 percent compared to the previous year.
Ghana's forests cover approximately 6.4 million hectares (about 27 percent of the country's land area). The forestry sector employs approximately 800,000 people. This includes not only logging, lumber, and furniture production, but also tree fruit harvesting, herbal medicine, and ecotourism.
