Gambia's GDP grew by 6.1%

The Gambian economy remained resilient in 2025, with real GDP growth estimated at 6.1%, driven by tourism, construction and trade. Inflation dropped to 7.5%, and the budget deficit decreased to about 1.3% of GDP.

However, these successes mainly reflect cyclical stabilization rather than structural transformations. Growth continues to be concentrated in low-productivity services, heavily dependent on imports and insufficiently intensive in terms of employment, which limits domestic income generation and poverty reduction.

Economic growth is projected to slow to about 5% in 2026-2027. Maintaining sustainable growth will require maintaining macroeconomic stability, strengthening domestic resource mobilization, and increasing productivity.
