Gambia to build 1,500 km of highways

Gambian President Adama Barrow launched a project to build a modern highway network in the country. The first stage of the project is a new highway that will connect the rural communities of Jimara, Kantora and Tumana.
Barrow called the road project an important step towards overcoming regional differences, improving access to markets, medical centers and schools, and strengthening national integration.
According to the President, the goal of the project is to build 1,500 kilometers of roads, which is unprecedented in the history of the Gambia.
