Foreigners can only engage in large gold projects in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe announced on May 22, 2026 a ban on foreign investors operating in artisanal, small-scale and medium-scale gold mining. The Ministry of Mines said only Zimbabwean-owned companies will be allowed in the segment.
Existing foreign operators must produce more than 20 kilograms of gold per month or invest at least $15 million before January 1, 2027 to qualify as large-scale mining companies.
