Europe and Africa will be connected by a new underwater cable
Investors from Europe and Africa, including Canalink, GUILAB, International Mauritania Telecom, Orange Group, Orange Cote d'hivoire, Sonatel, Silverlinks, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the launch of the Via Africa submarine cable project.
The new cable system is designed to connect European and African Atlantic Ocean countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, the Canary Islands, Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea, Côte d'Ivoire and Nigeria.
At the initial stage, investors will jointly finance a coastal zone study to determine the optimal route for laying the cable. The next step will be to select a cable supplier and contractor for the work.
