Electric buses appeared in Kampala

The company E-Bus Xpress Kiira Ltd., a subsidiary of the state corporation Kiira Motors Corporation, announced that last Sunday in Kampala the first electric buses of local production came on line.
Buses run along key routes in the central business district. The electric bus fleet in Kampala is expected to increase to 300 units by June 2028.
Within a few years, the Ugandan government plans to launch 1,500 electric buses in 14 cities across the country.
Kampala has become the second city in the country where the movement of electric buses is organized. The first electric buses in Uganda appeared in 2024 in Jinja.
