DRC may enter the top five largest economies

According to the International Monetary Fund's world economic outlook for 2026, the Democratic Republic of the Congo is expected to overtake Ethiopia in nominal GDP and become the fifth largest economy in sub-Saharan Africa.
The IMF emphasizes that this shift is partly due to the dynamic development of the extractive sector and the growth of mining.
According to the same forecasts, South Africa will remain the region's largest economy in absolute terms.
