Construction of a solar power plant has begun in Mozambique

The governments of Mozambique and South Korea on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Nkantha solar power plant in the central province of Tete.
The project, which has a budget of about $12 million, is funded by the South Korean government through Korean Institute for the Advancement of Technology (KIAT).
The construction is expected to take eight months and will be carried out by the Mozambique's Energy Fund (FUNAE) as part of a project aimed at increasing access to electricity in rural areas.
The 750 kWh power plant (peak power in kilowatts) will provide electricity to more than 1,200 households in the region.
