China buys lithium plants in Ghana

The Chinese lithium battery manufacturer Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co. Ltd. is in the final stages of acquiring Atlantic Lithium Ltd, which owns lithium plants in Ghana.
The deal is expected to be valued at $210 million. According to the agreement, the final price will be determined after taking into account taxes levied by the Ghana Revenue Authority.
Today, China controls a significant share of the world's lithium processing capacity and is a world leader in battery production. China's acquisition of lithium assets in Africa is aimed at ensuring long-term supplies of this metal.
