Burundi's economy grew by 4.6% in 2025

According to the African Development Bank, Burundi's real GDP growth is estimated at 4.6% in 2025, compared with 4.1% in 2024, despite continued fuel shortages and restrictions related to foreign exchange shortages.
Compared to East Africa (6.6%), the growth rate of Burundi's economy remains low in 2025. The positive momentum was mainly driven by the mining, construction and energy sectors.
Growth prospects for the period 2026-2027 are projected at 4.3% and 4.6%, respectively. These prospects are subject to a number of risks: worsening regional instability, protracted geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, volatility in coffee and gold prices, as well as climate shocks.
