Botswana's sovereign rating remains at a high level

The rating agency S&P Global Ratings has confirmed Botswana's sovereign rating at BBB- (long-term) and A-3 (short-term).
According to S&P Global Ratings, the decision to maintain the previous position is due to the fact that the budget deficit in 2025 turned out to be less than expected, and the volume of the central bank's foreign exchange reserves increased.
These positive factors are observed against the background of the ongoing crisis in the global diamond market, which accounts for about 70% of the country's exports.
