Botswana is set to diversify its economy

The Botswana government has announced the launch of the Botswana Economic Transformation Programme (BETP). This initiative, announced by President Duma Boko in Gaborone, aims to expand the country's economic base and reduce its reliance on diamond exports.
Botswana's economy has long been renowned for its political stability, legal transparency, and effective governance, but its heavy reliance on diamond mining, which accounts for the majority of its export revenue, makes it vulnerable to fluctuations in global prices.
The BETP program aims to address this issue by unlocking the potential of other sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, and financial services. The program is part of the government's "Vision 2036" strategy and aims to create an environment that is attractive to both local and international investors.
