Africa records the world's fastest growth in rich people

According to the World Ultra Wealth Report 2026, published by the analytical and consulting company Altrata, the number of Africans with a net worth of at least $30 million increased by 23.7% last year to 3,440 people. This growth was the most significant among all regions of the world, significantly ahead of Europe (14.5%), North America (15%) and Asia (15.8%).
The combined wealth of Africa's ultra-rich reached $400 billion at the end of 2025, up 22.4% from a year earlier. Despite this rapid growth, Africa still accounts for only 0.6% of the world's rich and 0.7% of their total wealth.
The report projects that the continent will continue to record the fastest growth in its ultra-rich population through 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 8.4%, ahead of the Pacific region (8%), Latin America and the Caribbean (6.9%), Asia (6.5%), North America (6.1%), and Europe (5.6%). Africa could have 5,200 ultra-rich individuals by 2030.
