Africa launches AI agriculture solutions competition
Smart Africa, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), has launched the Innovate Africa Challenge. The initiative aims to find solutions that can improve agriculture on the continent.
According to the organizers, artificial intelligence (AI) can improve the efficiency of agriculture in Africa by predicting crops, identifying pests, optimizing water resources and using climate-sensitive farming methods.
The winner will receive $50,000 in funding for the implementation, on-site validation, and scaling of new technology solutions in farming communities.
The organizers invite developers, innovators, and technology entrepreneurs who create AI solutions for sustainable agriculture to apply for the program. Applications are open until August 31, 2026.
