Africa is playing its own game

The 3rd Morocco Gaming Expo was held in Morocco. The event brought together representatives of the public, studios, publishers, investors and telecom operators from different countries of the continent.
The African video game market is estimated at about $1.8 billion, while its annual growth is stable due to the highest population growth rates in the world, as young people are the main consumers of gaming content.
Most of the studios and initiatives are concentrated in Morocco, Egypt, Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa. These markets are already starting to produce local game software, although most of the games consumed are still being developed outside the continent.
Esports is another important growth factor. The number of local and regional competitions supported by telecom operators and streaming platforms is growing. In addition, Africa is gradually becoming a testing ground for new business models of mobile games.
