Africa invests $100 billion in food
On September 4, 2026, the 20th Annual African Food Systems Forum concluded in Kigali, Rwanda, with the theme "Investing in Africa’s Agri-Food Systems: Nourishing Nations, Growing Jobs, Building Resilience."
The event brought together more than 5,000 participants from about 50 African countries, including heads of state, businessmen, investors, researchers, farmers' organizations and financial institutions.
Over the course of five days, sessions, round tables and discussions were held, where issues of financing agriculture, food security, climate change, youth employment, and the introduction of new technologies were discussed.
The forum participants set a goal to attract $100 billion in public and private investment in Africa's food systems by 2035, including through government institutions, development banks, and sovereign wealth funds.
