A new soybean processing plant opened in Benin
Ehua Industries has opened a new soybean processing and feed production plant in Benin, in the Glo-Jigabe industrial area. The plant is located on an area of 8 hectares, has storage facilities of more than 20,000 tons and can process about 100,000 tons of soybeans and produce 180,000 tons of feed for livestock and poultry per year.
The company plans to purchase up to 100,000 tons of soybeans annually from local producers and produce feed mainly for poultry, pig and rabbit farms. Other raw materials will also be used in feed formulations, including corn, rice bran, corn bran, cottonseed cake, palm oil and by-products of cashew nut processing.
Investments in the project are estimated at more than 28 billion CFA francs (about 50 million US dollars). About 1,600 people were involved in the construction project, including engineers, technicians, site managers, administrative staff and workers. After opening, the company will create about 500 direct and more than 1,500 indirect jobs.
